How to choose a website template for your business

Choose a website template that fits your content, customers, and way of building.

To choose a website template, start with the job your website needs to do. Then compare the page structure, content requirements, mobile layout, and supported tools. I'll be using a garden designer as an example throughout this guide.

1. Write down your website’s main job

Finish this sentence: “My website helps [audience] understand [offer] and take [next step].”

For example, a garden designer might write: “My website helps homeowners understand my garden design service and book an introductory call.” This website landing page will need sections to explain the service, show example projects, describe their process, and have a clear way to book a call.

Use this list to narrow the template library.

2. Compare the structure with the content you actually have

Look past the demo colours and images. Review the template from top to bottom and ask what information each section will need. An image-led portfolio works best when you have enough strong images to replace the samples. A design with a large testimonial section needs real quotes you can publish. A long pricing comparison may not be necessary for a business with just one service.

For the garden designer, a useful comparison might look like this:

  • Large project gallery: a good fit with several images of projects
  • Service and process sections: a section with a clear offer and a repeatable way of working.

3. Check how you will edit it

“Website template” can mean a template for a visual editor, a collection of code files, or instructions and design files for an AI tool. Those formats are not interchangeable.

Does the template align with your tool editor or building process? Which pages and assets are included?

For a Veronica G Template, we are flexible and offer 4 ways to build out your website; prompts per page, theme and image prompts, Framer remix link and code. The template setup guide explains how to begin with each route.

4. Choose a visual direction you can keep using

Once the functional side is clear, choose the visual design that feels right for your brand. Notice the type, image treatment, spacing, and overall pace.

A matching theme helps you carry those choices into future pages. If you already have a layout and mainly want a consistent visual system, a theme may be enough. Read template or theme: which should you choose? before buying both separately.

Your final check

  • The layout supports your product or service
  • You can replace its sample content with real words and images.
  • You've comfortable with the editing tool (AI or Framer in Veronica G Templates)
  • You know which services still need connecting
  • The licence costs suit your intended use
